[Frequently Asked Questions]
Root
Canals
Tiny canals within your tooth may become infected
and lead to the pulp inside your tooth also becoming
infected as well. A dentist or an endodontist can
perform a root canal to clean out and then fill the
tooth either a filling or a crown.
Veneers
Veneers are ultra-thin shells of ceramic material,
which are bonded to the front of teeth and can be
the ideal choice for improving the appearance of the
front teeth. Veneers are placed to mask discolorations,
to brighten teeth that have been discolored due to
disease or certain medications, and to improve a smile.
Highly resistant to permanent staining from coffee,
tea, or even cigarette smoking, the wafer-thin veneers
can achieve a tenacious bond to the tooth, resulting
in an esthetically pleasing naturalness that is unsurpassed
by other restorative options.
Dental
Crowns
Crowns are used when teeth have been badly damaged
by decay or wear and cosmetic fillings are no longer
an option. In these cases, a crown or a cap must be
used to save the tooth. Crowns can also be used on
either side of a gap, so that a bridge can be constructed
to replace one or multiple missing teeth without having
to use a dental implant. There are several types of
crowns: Full Metal, Metal with Porcelain Joints, Porcelain
or Cast Glass. Each has its advantages and disadvantages.
The dentist will recommend which one will be the best
suited for each situation.
Dental
Bridges
A bridge replaces one of more natural missing teeth
by bridging the space between two teeth.
Cosmetic
Dentistry
Cosmetic dentistry is essentially involved with improving
your smile. There are a variety of procedures that
can help in improving your smile.
Dental
Implants
Dental implants are fixtures of titanium which are
surgically screwed into your jaw bone. The implant
is an anchor for a naturally-appearing false tooth
or a set of false teeth. They are typically best placed
in the front portion of your lower jaw. Implants are
great for replacing missing teeth. It is important
that you have enough bone in the area of the missing
teeth for the implants to be attached to. Implants
are not only used to replace one tooth, but rather
people missing most, if not all, of their teeth benefit
greatly as well. Implants are increasingly being used
to replace certain types of bridges and removable
partial dentures.
